Dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis are both conditions in the same spectrum. Seborrheic dermatitis is a condition in which thick, greasy scales are seen. These are often yellow in colour. These scales can be seen over the scalp and can even come on eyelashes. This makes the eyes a little difficult to open. It is important to avoid being harsh while trying to remove the scales. They are often attached strongly to the hair. It is preferable to soften them and then try to remove them gently. The scales can be softened in different ways. Anti-dandruff shampoos and overnight lotions are recommended for the scalp. Medicated shampoos with antifungals are also recommended for this purpose. These treatments need to be continued daily for best results. For complaints of the eyes, it is better to see an ophthalmologist for a detailed examination.
