Dear Reader, Yes, mild headache and drowsiness (sleepiness) are common and recognised side effects of Levocetirizine and Montelukast, which are present in Montek LC tablets. The ingredient primarily responsible for the feeling of sleepiness and low energy is Levocetirizine, which is an antihistamine. Although it is considered a non-sedating or less-sedating antihistamine, it can still cause drowsiness, dizziness, and fatigue in some individuals. Headaches are also a side effect of this medicine. However, it is still advisable to consult your physician if these effects bother you or persist. How to Manage Drowsiness:
  • Because of the potential for sleepiness, Montek LC is typically recommended to be taken once a day, in the evening or at bedtime, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • If you are currently taking the medicine in the morning and experiencing significant drowsiness that impacts your daily activities, such as driving or operating machinery, you should:
  1. Avoid activities that require high alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
  2. Speak with your prescribing doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor may advise you to switch the dose timing to the evening so the drowsy effect occurs while you sleep, or they may suggest an alternative medicine.
  • Do not change your medicine schedule or stop taking it without consulting your doctor.
