How long does Combiflam take to relieve pain?
How much time does Combiflam take to relieve pain? I took one tablet for body aches about three hours ago, but the pain is still there. Does it take longer to work, or should I take another one?
Dear Reader,
Combiflam has two pain-relieving ingredients — Ibuprofen (a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine) and Paracetamol (Acetaminophen). Together, they help reduce pain, fever, and inflammation.
When to Expect Relief:
- Onset of action: Usually within 30–60 minutes after taking a dose.
- Peak effect: Around 1–2 hours after consumption.
- Duration of relief: Typically lasts for 4–6 hours.
Since it’s been about three hours since you took a tablet and the pain hasn’t improved much, the medication may not be strong enough for your current level of discomfort, or the cause of pain might need further evaluation.
Before Taking Another Dose:
Do not take another tablet yet.
- Always maintain at least a 6-hour gap between doses.
- Do not exceed 3 tablets in 24 hours (this equals 1200 mg of Ibuprofen and 975 mg of Paracetamol — the safe daily limit under medical supervision).
Since you took your first tablet 3 hours ago, wait another 3 hours before considering your next dose, as advised by your doctor.
What to Do Next:
- If pain persists beyond 6 hours, or is severe or worsening, consult a doctor.
- Persistent pain despite taking a medication like Combiflam may indicate an underlying condition that needs a medical review.
- Avoid exceeding the recommended dose — taking too much can harm your stomach (due to Ibuprofen) or liver (due to Paracetamol).
Wishing you good health.
